The organiser of Badagry International Film Cultural and Sports Festival (BIFIF) on Sunday rolled out activities of events to mark 2024 celebration. Mr Viyon Awhanse, the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) BIFIF, in a press release in Badagry said the festival would kick start with awareness campaign continue until the eve of the festival. The theme of 2024 BIFIF festival is entitled “Roots and Routes”.
According to Awhanse, this comprehensive drive will encompass street and campus storms, digital adverts, and engagements. “Influencers will join the campaign, complemented by extensive coverage across radio, TV, print, billboards, and public relations efforts. “Expect to see our team making numerous appearances on radio and TV, spreading the word far and wide,” he said. He said that press conference would be organised by the middle of August, to unveil the festival’s grand plans, including the registration process, submission guidelines, and a distinguished list of partners and sponsors. “We will also highlight the array of captivating activities planned for this year’s event.“On Oct.1, we are thrilled to announce the Sato Drum Tour, a unique and honored tradition. “During this special tour, a team of drummers, blessed by the Badagry Traditional Ruler, will journey with the revered Sato drum to visit prominent kings across Lagos. “This tour serves to announce the 2024 Badagry International Film Festival, pay homage, and seek their blessings for a successful event,” he said. He said from Aug. 12 to Nov.1, the BIFIF Academy will embark on an intensive and comprehensive training program aimed at empowering 1,500 young creatives across six cohorts. “This year’s initiative is designed to equip aspiring filmmakers with crucial skills and knowledge in various aspects of the film industry. “Our focus areas include Audio Visual, Cinematography, editing and lighting, special effects makeup, production design, drone operations, script writing, lighting for camera, sound recording and location scouting and management.


“This year’s programme is the largest to date and aims to build on the success of our past initiatives by offering top-tier training facilitated by both local and international experts. ‘Our ultimate goal is to nurture and support the next generation of African filmmakers, providing them with the skills and opportunities needed to thrive in the global film industry,” he said. Awhanse said that 2024 festival Project Team to work with him includes Segun Arinze the Festival Director, Ororo Pattaya20km, Creative Director and Producer. Others are Yinka Davies, Image maker and Public Relations Officer, Olumide Akinsanya, Project Manager and Mawuyon Ogun, Media Director.
Awhanse said the festival would be held in middle of November, 2024.
